about

„Sofðu, unga ástin mín” is and old Icelandic lullaby, written by Jóhann Sigurjónsson. I first came across it thanks to a recording from 1935 in the ethnographic archives of ISMUS. I immediately liked the rather dark, yet sooo Icelandic, atmosphere and text of the song. So when I found out that Þórey chose this to sing - I was delighted.

Þórey Huld Jónsdóttir recorded all four (!) voices. Piano meditation opening the single is written and performed by Logi Gliese Ágústsson.

The Icelandic moss on the cover represents the feeling of safety and calmness. Moss is pure and soft, and when I gently touch it, brings me closer to the land. It feels peaceful. Photo is by Magdalena Łukasiak.
