about

Celebrating the First Day of Summer, which is a national holiday here in Iceland, I would like to announce the follow-up single to "Noise to Sleep" album. The title is "Everglow". Field recording you'll hear there is the sound of geothermal pool in North Iceland. I used the part of it I found the most musical as a soft bassy instrument - listen carefully and you will catch it :) But what is more important, I am - one again - using a sample from the ISMUS catalogue. It is an old Icelandic lullaby "Sofðu, unga ástin mín" written by Jóhann Sigurjónsson around year 1900. The audio recording of Hólmfríður Pétursdóttir singing the lullaby comes from the year 1969. Even though the lyrics can be seen as disturbing - it is about sleep being a shield from the cruel world, filled with sorrow and longing - I find it soothing.

Cover album is a photo by Magdalena Łukasiak.
